My decision to have gastric surgery was because of my 17 year old daughter. I have been over weight my whole life but I have NEVER had confidence issues. I was not depressed; I could always find cute clothes. I loved me and the skin I was in. My only issue was always my health.
My family has a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I had all three by the age of 30 and was on several medications. When my doctor told me that I would have to be switched from pills to insulin to control my diabetes, I knew something had to be done. Since the surgery, I have been taken off ALL my medications. I got on a roller coaster for the first time this summer (its been YEARS) and I got on a airplane and didn’t need a seat belt extension. THAT WAS A GREAT FEELING!
