People with obesity can suffer from a variety of related medical conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obstructive sleep apnea, joint pain, and heart disease. Bariatric surgery can help you lose weight and keep it off, while also improving or resolving these medical issues. If your Body Mass Index (BMI) is higher than 40 you are eligible for bariatric surgery. If your BMI is 35 and you have an obesity-related health condition, you might also be a candidate.
